In addition, I've described a syndrome called TEDIOUS Syndrome, an overlap of fibromyalgia and metabolic syndrome.  This striking co-occurrence of obesity, pain, and fatigue is attributed to the inflammatory nature of visceral adipose tissue (abdominal fat).  Originally described as an acronym for traumatic eating disorders in obese uncomfortable subjects, TEDIOUS syndrome appears to be much more; it's a metabolic disturbance that arises in susceptible patients whose behavioral eating issues, previous trauma (physical or emotional), and disordered sleep combine to affect appetite, energy, mood, and pain perception.  It's fascinating to see how these aspects of health intersect, and how a common-sense approach to treatment can make a wonderful difference.  Stay tuned...
